Secrets Cap Cana is the resort I describe as “everything working the way it should.” It sits on sugar-soft Juanillo Beach, about 20 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. This adults-only property runs on the Unlimited-Luxury model. That means seven à la carte restaurants with no reservations needed and top-shelf drinks at six bars. There’s entertainment every night, too, which you can join or happily ignore.
For honeymooners, the swim-out suites are the sweet spot. Meanwhile, the Preferred Club upgrade adds a private lounge, upgraded amenities, and preferred locations. When you want quiet, the Secrets Spa by Pevonia blends hydrotherapy with local traditions. And because you’re inside Cap Cana, the marina, equestrian center, and Punta Espada golf course are minutes away. Few resorts balance lively and relaxed this well.
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is the newer adults-only heavyweight on Juanillo Beach, and travelers have noticed. In fact, it was ranked #1 in its category in TripAdvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards. All 375 suites face the ocean. Swim-up suites put the pool at your terrace, and the infinity pools blur straight into the sea.
Two things set it apart for a honeymoon. First, the spa: an underground grotto with a skylit lagoon and a hydrotherapy circuit that feels like a hidden world. Second, the range. You share access to the Canapolis water park and the restaurants at sister resort Hyatt Ziva next door. As a result, a lazy beach week can include a lazy-river day and more than a dozen places to eat between the two properties. It’s polished and energetic. Better yet, it’s fifteen minutes from the airport, which is a merciful way to start a honeymoon.
Sanctuary Cap Cana
If your honeymoon mood board leans castle rather than beach cabana, Sanctuary Cap Cana delivers it literally. The architecture channels a colonial-era fortress, turrets and all, on the same stretch of Juanillo Beach. This adults-only all-inclusive is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, and it shows. Expect elegant suites, attentive service, and dining that runs from a proper steakhouse to Northern Italian and Pan-Asian.
The castle suites are the signature stay. However, the oceanfront villas closer to the sand are the honeymoon move if the budget allows. Between the dramatic setting and the smaller scale, Sanctuary suits couples who want their all-inclusive with a sense of occasion. And if you collect Marriott Bonvoy points, they count here, too.
Beyond Punta Cana: Two Resorts Worth the Detour
The D.R. is a big country, and some of its most memorable honeymoons happen far from the Punta Cana strip. These two ask a little more of your travel day. In return, they repay it generously.
Amanera Resort
Amanera sits alone on a cliff above Playa Grande, on the island’s lush north coast. “Alone” is the point. This is an Aman resort: a small collection of casitas, many with private pools, all with floor-to-ceiling ocean views. Even the terraces are bigger than most hotel rooms. Below the cliff runs one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Alongside it, a golf course traces ten holes along the ocean.
Two honest notes here. Amanera is not all-inclusive, and it’s priced like the ultra-luxury hideout it is. It’s also a longer transfer than the Punta Cana resorts. However, I’ll plan that carefully so your arrival feels like part of the experience rather than a chore. For couples who want the most private, most stunning honeymoon in the D.R., nothing else comes close.
Casa de Campo Resort & Villas
Casa de Campo, near La Romana on the southeast coast, is less a resort than a 7,000-acre world. It’s home to Teeth of the Dog, the Caribbean’s most famous golf course. Then add a marina, an equestrian center, a shooting club, and Altos de Chavón. That last one is a recreated Mediterranean hilltop village with an amphitheater and artisan studios above the Chavón River. Every room comes with a golf cart, because that’s how you get around your own private peninsula of a vacation.
Stay in the hotel rooms and suites near Minitas Beach. Or go big with one of the villas, some with private pools and staff. Casa de Campo isn’t all-inclusive by default, though meal plans exist. So it suits couples who get restless on day three of pure beach. If your ideal honeymoon includes golf, horseback rides, and dinner in a stone village above a river, this is the one.
